Belgium Dominates USA: World Cup Journey Ends in Seattle with 4–1 Round of 16 Defeat

The United States’ dream run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup has come to a heartbreaking end following a 4–1 defeat to Belgium in the Round of 16. Played before a passionate crowd of 66,925 at Seattle Stadium, the match saw Belgium display clinical precision to secure their place in the quarter-finals against Spain. 
Belgium took control early through Charles De Ketelaere, who netted in the 9th minute. While Malik Tillman briefly leveled the score with a clever, deflected free-kick in the 31st minute, the momentum was short-lived. De Ketelaere restored the lead just moments later, with Hans Vanaken and Romelu Lukaku adding second-half goals to put the game out of reach. 
Despite the exit, the USMNT showed flashes of quality under Mauricio Pochettino. However, defensive lapses and Belgium’s clinical edge ultimately proved the difference, as the Americans bowed out alongside fellow co-hosts Canada and Mexico.
