Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to a heartbreaking end after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the Round of 32. Jhon Arias netted the decisive goal in the 14th minute, capitalizing on a cross from Luis Suárez to beat Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi. 
Despite a bright start, the Black Stars struggled to find rhythm, ultimately failing to register a single shot on target throughout the match. Ati-Zigi was instrumental in keeping the scoreline respectable, pulling off several crucial saves against an aggressive Colombian side that controlled the tempo for long stretches. While Carlos Queiroz introduced late attacking substitutes, Ghana’s build-up play remained too predictable against Colombia’s disciplined defense. Colombia now advances to face Switzerland in the Round of 16.
