Real Madrid goalkeeper Alexander Petrov has been named FIFA Best Goalkeeper for the second consecutive year. The Russian international has been instrumental in Real Madrid's success this season, keeping 18 clean sheets in La Liga alone.
Petrov beat off competition from Manchester City's Ederson and Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer to claim the prestigious award at a ceremony in London.
"This award belongs to my defenders and my team," Petrov said. "Without them in front of me, none of this would be possible. But I am very proud and very happy."
The 31-year-old has now established himself as the undisputed number one in world football, and Real Madrid have moved swiftly to secure his long-term future with a new contract extension.
