Neymar Injury Scare Raises Concerns Ahead of Upcoming FIFA World Cup Tournament
Brazilian superstar Neymar suffers calf injury concern, creating uncertainty regarding his immediate fitness situation.
Brazil’s World Cup preparations have suffered a major setback. Tests by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed that talisman Neymar has suffered a Grade 2 calf injury, revealing a partial muscle fiber tear in his right calf.
National team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar announced an expected recovery timeline of two to three weeks. As a result, the 34-year-old forward is officially ruled out of Brazil’s upcoming warm-up friendlies against Panama and Egypt.
The injury, sustained during a Santos match on May 17, leaves Neymar’s status for Brazil's World Cup opener against Morocco on June 13 in serious doubt. While manager Carlo Ancelotti is keeping him in the squad under constant evaluation, Brighton's João Pedro is reportedly on standby if a replacement is needed.
